TOKENS - BEING RESOURCE*FULL. MUSHROOMS. WELLSPRINGS.

For 450 million years, plants of different species and ages have communicated thru the genius of mycelium, the underground “roots” of mushrooms. Their “wood-wide web,” a network of entwined brilliance, expands a plant’s reach for nutrients, water, and soil-bound minerals (phosphorous, sulfur, and nitrogen), by miles. When we step foot on the forest floor, the Mycorrhizal symbioses partnership knows, as the fungus perceives and shares information, process, and chemical signals with the many roots they embrace, committed. Not an act of selflessness, the fungus receive carbohydrates and sugars that the plants produce through photosynthesis, along with other nutrients like amino acids.

Q. 1 Making lists and schedules sucks but I am more aware of how much I am torturing myself with it. Elusive is putting process first - beauty practices ritual. I'm more aware of what the reticular function was attuned to - danger, reasons to put my armor up, lack of support and money and time.

Q. 2  I am finding myself in a total panic about launching my business because of fear of what they will think and whether I will hurt them or they will reject me. There is a childhood mother wound abandonment trauma that gets triggered when I think about all of this. I am thinking I could use some therapy only I don't know how I will pay for it. Being real here.

Q. 3 I would really like someone to give me feedback on my branding, collaborate on it with me. I also need an enthusiastic team of supporters. People who will make phone calls and spreadsheets and things I would rather not do so I can focus on the creation. I'm not generating money with it yet, so I would have to exchange something like free sessions or art prints or just the experience (like an intern).

These are all inquiries at the level of individual (appropriately).

The answers are at the level of group.

Money, & every other resource of modern business, lives in dialogue & play.

The specific answers are down below. First, a story...

When we started Tocarre, our exotic car share, we made the mistake of accepting an investor who didn't understand how D, & his lifelong friend Colby, played. They are instinct-driven entrepreneurs. They go from the gut, they like to go fast, & when they are together, it's all f-bombs & jokes from their childhood. They run their own shows, & neither of them like being told what to do, because, well, they're the boss. So they didn't do that to each other. They handpicked a dream team because they were insanely passionate about cars: Colby paints Ferraris for his meditation, & his son's name is Enzo, after Enzo Ferrari. D will talk about the magic of handbuilt engines, handcrafted wood dashboards & custom stitching for days. They are wells of information for car fanatics, as well as young business owners. They never had to be resourceful to search for a team, or support, as the team was already there, because they were resource*full.

So let's just gather a few things:

Individuals have to be resourceful. Wellsprings are resource*full.

You need to know how you play, & do that, full tilt.

Keep an eye on the Prostitute Archetype at play in your life. She will sell out on your truth.

(we'll cover that in depth, on the Archetypes calls, later)

Back to the investor. He lived two hours away & had a job, so they never expected to see him. He was, like the rest, a silent investor, who also got the perks of using the cars & yacht. Except he was so stoked to play, he quit his job & showed up at the dream garage every day. And he wanted to play. Unfortunately, he came from a corporate world, & wanted order & accountability. He wanted time cards & spreadsheets & clarity about what D & Colby were going to do every day.  He took the fun out of it.  The team kept threatening to leave, & eventually, they did. Membership dropped because the energy sucked.  He had read an awful article that said, "the one thing all Fortune 50 companies have in common is knock-em out, drag-em down fights in the board room." No matter what they said, how they begged him to kick back, loosen up, or, get the F% outta the car, he begged for more. He LOVED it. He thought when they were fighting, he was playing.

But he wasn't paying attention to his playmates. They weren't playing. Not anymore. It killed the business, as the resources of high energy, man power, membership & returns fizzled.

Playing requires paying attention to your playmates, & being a wellspring for them. When it's fun, interesting, & nourishing, people play. They bring their toys to the energy field. When it's not, they stop. Simple.

MUSHROOM

Mushroom keeps track of everything that happens in the forest, so when we touch down, the forest actually knows it. It knows when it's humid, & how humid, when a tree cracks & burns. It's a caretaker, but not a martyr. Mushroom is a network in every way, & one that works very, very, diligently for it's purpose. She is literally in a hug with the plants she serves. Her plants are seen, loved & heard in a way that leaves them nourished, as mushroom will pull water & nutrients from miles away.

SHE'S ASKING YOU TO BE THIS PRESENT. THIS KNOWING. THIS GENEROUS.

What do you need? Exactly. You've said it before. Make the very specific lists:

What do you need to go Next Level? List all of it.

ideal environment:
location:
funding:
partners:
family support:
emotional support:
education:
equipment:
endorsement:
exposure:
circumstance:

What do you know you need to do?

What can be delegated (90% of it)?

Who do you need to bring in?

For the things you need to do, who can you tell, so that it comes back to you at the right time? This doesn't have to be a formal structure. This can be healthy social accountability.

{warning: using social accountability by making promises publicly or to key individuals that you don't want to let down or would be ashamed to break your word with is extremely effective for results & very hard to do consistently. it's not inside the feminine gesture. for long-term social accountability, you need to create a healthy circle of committed peers with friendship or work you are inspired to lift up, & make promises there. they/the Eternal will cycle back in the form of goodness, resources & support}

100% of the people you need are people. 100% of the resources you need will require some love from people. 100% of people need an embrace. They all want to be nourished, seen, loved & heard. If not by you, then by others. Mushroom acts collectively to magnify seemingly scarce resources.

HOW CAN YOU BE A WELLSPRING? HOW CAN YOU NOURISH THEM?

Mushroom invites you to consider your Beacons. Who are you, as a contribution? That's more than enough. You need to set yourself up to be a clean & healthy conduit. Think of those fresh shrooms, right after the rain. They're succulent, bright & plumpy. There's a sponginess to them. They're light & airy.

Don't take yourself or your work too seriously. This is an invitation to play.

Now you know who & what you need. Don't get caught up in it, like the investor. Don't start putting your head down & getting lost in the figuring & manipulating results. He overwhelmed himself, & then everyone else. And they all stopped playing.

Stick to your Beacons. Colby & D still play with exotic toys, because their passion hasn't wained. They still have teams, because their hearts pound little-boy joy & they still share everything they have with anyone who asks. They still have clients, because they overflow with everything they take in. D's Beacons are Inspiration, Joy, & Self-Expression. He stays inspired, by reading, watching talent, listening to thought leaders & witnessing profound healing. He stays joyful by hanging out with his sons, talking on the phone with his brothers & best friends, going to movies, coaching the Waldorf football team & playing music on full volume while he washes the dishes. He practices self-expression by geeking out with his medical director on energy medicine & alkaline food, amongst other things.

Take on the gesture of mycelium. Be resource*full. Fill up on your Beacons to overflowing. Stay filled up - we want you juicy, light, bright, airy. That spongy quality is humor, it bounces back, it bounces off, & it has a thin skin, yes, but it's designed to let everything just run off. It doesn't collect energy & drama, just information, nutrients, & water - life force. And she doesn't hold on to it all for her survival. She's a conduit.

Mushroom isn't focused on her own survival, or her own thriving. She's a collective creature.

HER MOST IMPORTANT PRODUCT IS THE WELL-BEING OF THE COMMUNITY LANDSCAPE.

I promise you ::

All of it happens in dialogue & play.
Master this, & there are no resources that won't be available to you & your initiatives.

ANSWERS? Sure. Below. These are specific answers, but of course, I would never want you to outsource your thinking. The answers that will work best will come from your own symbolic thinking & beginning a practice of thinking from "we," vs. "I."

Q. 1 Making lists and schedules sucks but I am more aware of how much I am torturing myself with it. Elusive is putting process first - beauty practices ritual. I'm more aware of what the reticular function was attuned to - danger, reasons to put my armor up, lack of support and money and time.

A. Yes. So please stop torturing yourself with it. You're visual. Read the lists, the structures needed & immediately create some beauty around it. Do you need to create a weekly circle of women to play with & bounce your heart & strategy off of, to hold you accountable? Can you host a call, or sit with someone for tea every two days, or text someone the answers with your voice? I text myself my lists with a voice recorder so I'm constantly making declarations. Think in declarations & just make beautiful things. It's about engagement, not list-making. Just keep watching your reticular function. What do you want it to be attuned to? Make sure you are doing the wishes + oracles each month, so you can attune to magic, messages & miracles. Being a wellspring means  coming at this from a perspective of leadership & radical generosity.

A. Yes. Rejection is a sign of success. They are not for you. If you build it correctly, you are only for a few, & the Eternal will only give you what you can handle today. So if you want to create a business, you need to make a decision to expand your capacity for rejection. We all have an edge. For some people, they need to expand their capacity for failure. I have to expand my capacity for surrender & limitations, because what I really want to do in any given moment takes lifetimes. It really hurts to release anything that's not exactly what I want it to be. That's my edge. So abandonment is your edge. It's also your gesture, part of how life has shaped you so you can offer it up to others. So therapy comes in the form of bringing your healing to others in a way that shifts things for them. So you create some free content around it, or you seek out a therapist & pitch them with an offering of articles, testimonials or other sharing. All service providers & thought leaders love case studies. Be a case study. More generosity.

A. Yes. Name your team & reach out in leadership. First, study them, listen for what they need. Then give it to them. Create it with them. Blow their minds. And get the interns, asap. Place ads on the college boards & make promises about what they will learn with you. Then over-deliver.

xx, Maya

ps - My Jam "secret angel" asked Mike Lumoto to gift me a 5-Elements consultation, which gave me the invaluable insight that I need to eat ethnic food several times a week to feel happy. I watched him gifting generous consults all week long. Once home, Mike sent an email for his Kiva campaign to create a modern village of healers in San Francisco. He had raised $3k, & needed $10k in six days. The community rallied, sharing small, significant amounts, & more importantly, sharing with their communities. Many people supported because they wanted to be a part of his village themselves. His campaign was a success, & now he's set up for equipment, insurance & community. #wellspring
